What we do

  • Plumb in new washing machines and dishwashers, including new valves and waste connections where needed
  • Move appliance plumbing for a kitchen or utility change
  • Fix leaks from supply hoses, valves and waste connections
  • Clear slow or blocked appliance wastes

We work on the plumbing side: the water supply and the waste. We don’t repair the appliances themselves. For a drum, motor or electrical fault, you’ll need an appliance engineer.

Hard water and appliances

With moderately hard to very hard water across the Bristol Water area, limescale builds up in appliance inlet valves and filters. If an appliance is slow to fill, the valve or the supply may be partly blocked.

Hoses, valves and wastes

Washing machines and dishwashers connect to your plumbing in two places: a cold supply through a hose and valve, and a waste that carries dirty water away. Most appliance leaks come from one of these. A supply hose can perish or kink, especially if the machine has been pushed back hard against the wall. Valve washers wear. Waste hoses can slip out of a standpipe, or a connection under the sink can work loose.

It’s worth checking behind your appliances every so often for damp, kinked hoses or a hose that’s split near the connector. Flexible supply hoses don’t last forever, and replacing one costs far less than dealing with what it lets out.

Moving an appliance

If you’re moving a washing machine to a utility room or adding a dishwasher to a new kitchen, think about the waste first. The water supply can be run almost anywhere, but the waste needs a route and a fall to the drain. Planning that early saves surprises when the units go in.

Questions

Do you repair washing machines?

No. We do the plumbing: supply, valves and waste. Faults inside the machine need an appliance repair engineer.

Water is coming out from under my dishwasher. What should I do?

Turn off the appliance’s isolation valve, which is usually under the sink or behind the unit, and unplug the appliance. Then call us to check the connections and waste.
